Starting point: Molen van Pulderbos
Molenheide 67
In March 1840, construction began. The stone windmill turned for the first time in 1843. Today, it, along with its surroundings, is protected. On Sunday afternoons, the mill turns and grinds. Between 1 PM and 6 PM (in winter until 5 PM), the mill is even accessible to the public. Feel free to look inside. You can see the miller at work, learn a lot in the exhibition ‘from grain to flour’, and also buy a delicious mill bread. The miller is named Ludwig.
On the site, you can also visit the mechanical mill, the Molenhuis, Museum het Karkot, and the Bijenhal. The mill house ‘Graan’ is run by Stefan Van Robbroeck. After the walk, you can enjoy his famous homemade spaghetti or another dish he suggests.
We follow the GR5 sign, the well-known red-white stripes that will guide you for a long time until the watermill of Grobbendonk.
Boskant/Pulderdijk bench and overview board
At hiking junction 74 stands the chapel of Lovenhoek: benches
The chapel has just been renovated: new slates, door sill, door wall, all accomplished by students of wood and construction from secondary school Geel.
Watermill Grobbendonk
Benches (picnic area)
The watermill of Grobbendonk is located at the confluence of the Kleine Nete and the Aa and is one of the most beautiful hammer mills of the Kempen. This 13th-century hammer mill still grinds daily using the power of water. Oats and barley are crushed for horse feed.
About 100m after the mill we leave the GR5. From then on we mainly follow hiking junctions.
At the first intersection (signpost straight ahead to 96) we turn right towards ‘Het Karrewiel’ toilets
This is a petting farm. The terrace is open from 1 PM to 5 PM, you can have a drink there (no outside drinks or food allowed on the terrace)
Continue your way to the T-intersection ‘Troon’, here turn right towards junction 17
We follow the Kleine Nete and the junctions follow one after the other: 19-20-21-22
(optionally, you can follow the Kleine Nete along the right bank and then turn right towards junction 21)
Between 21 and 22 there is hospitality on the right side
16-23-24
61-62-59
Between junction 62 and 59 there is a sandy path to the right that leads you directly to the Hoeve, known far and wide for its farm ice cream!
After the ice cream, exit the farm via the entrance and turn right (Cauwenberglei) towards junction 58
