This route is characterized by open landscape in which agriculture largely determines the visual image of the trip. Pasture, grassland and maize occupy a large part of the agricultural area. The region is also known for its many pig farms. Typical for Koolskamp are the frozen vegetable companies. The region is sometimes called the "vegetable garden of Europe". Between Wingene and Ruddervoorde, the Lakebos and the Munkebossen form a beautiful contiguous forest complex. In this area there are also a number of beautiful castles including Castle De Muncken and Castle Rapenburgh.
Start point: Sint-Maartenshove, Sint-Maartensstraat 15, 8851 Koolskamp
The Sint-Maartenshove route was developed as part of 'Ferme Vélo - GPS treasure hunt in the countryside'. These are educational and adventurous cycling routes that can only be followed with the GPS. During these routes we put agriculture in the spotlight. Ferme Vélo is an initiative of Inagro. Thanks to Leader Tielts Plateau, Inagro can make use of West Flemish, Flemish and European subsidies for this.
