From Kinsendael-Kriekenput, Kauwberg & Schaveys to beersel Castle

A series of green jewels in the Brussels Region and in the Senne valley in a beautiful walk of nearly 26km.

Zennevallei - Flemish Brabant & Green Brussels - Starting from Flemish Brabant Drogenbos, we go via 'Het Moeras' and a car-free part from Drogenbos to Uccle in Brussels. Here we follow 'The Green Walk' from Brussels through Keyenbempt with its Neckersgat mill. A little further we cross the marshy reserve of Kinsendael - Kriekenput with its wooden walks to England.

No crossing of the North Sea is necessary for this England, but a steep climb to reach the top of this Brussels plateau. When we reach the top, we head to the old sand quarry of Kauwberg. Here we are looking for the most difficult routes, to reach Flemish Brabant again via the Verrewinkelbos.

We do this when we cross the Linkebeek to reach the charming village center of Linkebeek. Again, beautiful narrow paths take us through the Schaveyspark with the largest dog walking area in Flanders and we reach the municipality of Alsemberg.

From Domein Rondenbos or Beersel Town Hall we follow fragmented forests such as the Gasthuisbos and groves around the Kesterbeek valley to Beersel Castle. This beautiful castle still looks like the 15th century and is one of the best preserved medieval castles in our country. We leave this historic gem behind us to follow the railway line, the Senne and the Ring from Brussels through Ruisbroek to Drogenbos.
