University of Basel

A lot of famous people are linked to the University of Basel. Here is a small selection: Erasmus, Daniel Bernoulli, Jacob Burckhardt, Leonhard Euler, Friedrich Nietzsche and Carl Jung.

Leonhard Euler Euler was first studying theology, Greek, and Hebrew at his father's urging, in order to become a pastor, but his teacher Bernoulli convinced father Euler that Leonhard was destined to become a great mathematician. And so it happened.
