St. Marien is the Roman Catholic parish church of Alfeld in the district of Hildesheim in Lower Saxony, named after Mary. It was built in 1971, along with a modern parish center, according to the plans of the Kassel architect Johannes Reuter Jr. The parish community of St. Marien belongs to the deanery of Alfeld-Detfurth in the Diocese of Hildesheim. The church is located at Bismarckstraße 5, with the adjacent rectory at Marienstraße 1.
After the Lutheran Reformation, a Catholic community life in Alfeld only began again with industrialization around the mid-19th century. Since 1853, Catholic church records have been kept in Alfeld again. From 1855 to 1857, the late Gothic chapel of the former Paulushospital was acquired, expanded, and consecrated to the patronage of St. Mary and St. Boniface. On July 1, 1895, the community was elevated to a parish. After the establishment of the Herz-Mariä-Kirche, the chapel was demolished, and a residential and commercial building was constructed in its place.
