Hotel Rössli

The Wang family arrived in this Swiss village in 2018. At that time, the then owner of the Rössli hotel had been looking for a buyer for some time. The Wang family immediately put the asking price on the table. The Wang family's behavior was strange in many aspects of the hospitality industry. For example, the villagers noticed how the family often returned to China for long periods in the middle of the high season. American officials alerted their Swiss colleagues to the fact that Chinese citizens would soon have a perfect vantage point for the brand-new fighter jets that would land here at the nearby airport.

Later, the Swiss police raided the Rössli hotel, searching the premises meticulously. Members of the Wang family were led away in handcuffs. Were the Wangs spies after all? The police found no listening devices, but were able to catch the family violating Swiss hospitality law. The Wangs were fined. An anticlimax, but the family returned to China. Not long after, the hotel was put up for sale. A buyer emerged fairly quickly: the Swiss army.
