The Doodemanskisten is a dune lake in the forest on the northwest side of the village of West-Terschelling. The water is about 300 meters long and 100 meters wide.
The elongated shape of Doodemanskisten, in combination with the south-westerly location, corresponds to the south-westerly wind direction that has also formed the youngest dunes on Terschelling. This may indicate that it originated as a dune lake. At high water levels, the water from Doodemanskisten runs through a channel through the dunes to the Groene Strand, after which the fresh water eventually runs into the salty Wadden Sea.
