In Schwarzburg, a few kilometers further down this narrow wooded valley, the castle of the same name leaves an impression of grandeur but also of decay. In a relatively recent past, this imposing building could still rely on the protection of two powerful men: Hitler and Honecker, two names that are now avoided. In the late thirties, the Führer received his guests here. As for the president of the GDR, Honecker, he considered doing the same thing in the early eighties, but the funds for restoration were lacking. The result is that this castle currently finds itself in an unenviable state.
