Dechow is a municipality in the western part of the Nordwestmecklenburg district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The municipality is administered by the Rehna office, headquartered in the town of the same name.
The municipality of Dechow is located on the southern edge of the 177-hectare Röggeliner See, which connects to the Schaalsee chain to the north, situated between the towns of Ratzeburg and Gadebusch. Lübeck is about 23 kilometers away, and the state capital Schwerin is around 32 kilometers away. The surroundings of Dechow at the state border with Schleswig-Holstein are rich in forests and lakes, with hilly terrain. The Lankower See is also located within the municipality.
