Heringsdorf is a municipality in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein. Augustenhof, Fargemiel, Görtz, Kalkberg, Klötzin, Rellin, Siggen, Süssau, and Weilandtshof are located within the municipality and are part of it as districts. In three districts, the term "estates" is commonly used: Estate Augustenhof, Estate Görtz, and Estate Siggen.
The place Heringsdorf is based on a Slavic foundation and, together with Klötzin, Rellin, Fargemiel, Görtz, and Siggen, belongs to the Lübeck town-stift villages.
