Burglesum

In the northeast, the district traversed by the Lesum borders the Lower Saxony municipality of Ritterhude, in the northwest the municipality of Schwanewede, in the west the district of Vegesack, and in the south the districts of Häfen, Gröpelingen, and Blockland.
The district is characterized by sharply varying landscapes. The districts south of the Lesum – Burg-Grambke and Werderland – are located in a marsh landscape at an elevation of 1 to 2 m above sea level, although parts of Burg-Grambke are on a dune of windblown sand, rising to a height of 6 m above sea level. The districts north of the Lesum – St. Magnus, Lesum, and Burgdamm – are part of the Bremen Switzerland. Here, the sharp southern edge of the Wesermünder Geest is located. The highest natural elevation in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, at 32.5 m above sea level, is found on the Geest in the Friedehorst Park located in the St. Magnus district. The Geest edge along the Lesum shows an impressive height difference for a flat land along the Admiral-Brommy-Weg: The 20-meter elevation line is at times less than 150 m from the level of the marsh. The street names Auf dem Hohen Ufer and Barg up have their origins here.
