Reislingen

The district consists of different types of settlements, some of which are separated by larger undeveloped areas. It is Alt-Reislingen, the nucleus of Reislingen with a former village school, half-timbered houses and former farms. Old Reislingen is supplemented by newer areas such as Köterkamp and Campo Mediterraneo . Further away from Alt-Reislingen, directly adjacent to the Hellwinkel district, are Reislingen-West and the Windberg area. In the 1990s, the large Reislingen South-West residential area was created, which has multiplied the number of inhabitants of the district. There is a shopping centre, two kindergartens, a primary school and a civic centre of the city of Wolfsburg. Reislingen includes a small part of the Allerpark area, where the district descends to the Aller glacial valley, as well as foothills of the industrial area East.
The place was mentioned in documents as early as 1239 as Reslinge. The place name was formed from the very old word ending -lingi. The original village form was that of a Wendish Rundling. According to a settlement register around 1850, there were 21 farms at that time.
