Sevinghausen is a district of Höntrop, located on Hellweg, a district of the Wattenscheid district of the city of Bochum on the border with Essen. The former community has retained many rural features to this day. The name goes back to the former moated castle Haus Sevinghausen. The second earliest mention of the name "Hellweg" in the Westphalian region in 1291 is associated with the Sevinghausen settlement of Stalleiken.
