Beetzseeheide

Beetzseeheide [beːʦeːˈhaɪ̯də] is a municipality with about 650 inhabitants in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg. It was formed in 2002 through the voluntary merger of the municipalities of Butzow, Gortz, and Ketzür in anticipation of the planned Brandenburg municipal area reform in 2003 and belongs to the Beetzsee office.
Settlement in the area around Beetzsee is already evidenced from the Stone Age. The first mention of a place belonging to the municipality dates back to 1161, when Mötzow was transferred to the Brandenburg cathedral chapter. The namesake for the municipality were the Rinnensee Beetzsee, which belongs to the city of Brandenburg an der Havel and lies on its shores, and the forested heathland in the north. The landscapes of Beetzseeheide, such as the Beetzseerinne, wetlands, and plateaus, are predominantly shaped by the Ice Age. Large areas are designated as nature parks, landscape or nature reserves, and several historical buildings are protected as monuments. The municipality does not yet have its own coat of arms.
