As early as 1211, an Eberhardt von Seueneken is mentioned. The village itself was first documented in the Ratzeburg tithe register of 1230. At that time, the first church was also built, which was demolished in 1749 due to its dilapidated condition. The patron Johann Hartwig Ernst von Bernstorff, owner of the Wotersen estate, had a new church built in 1753, where he was also buried in 1772.
The construction of the Stecknitz-Delvenau Canal, the "wet salt road" between Lüneburg and Lübeck, which was completed in 1398, made Siebeneichen a stopping point for the Stecknitz boatmen. Even today, there is a pew reserved for this shipping guild in the Siebeneichen church.
