Bocholt (Dutch: Boekholt; Low Saxon: Bokelt) is a town and municipality in Germany, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The town has 73,170 inhabitants and covers an area of 119.37 km². Bocholt is located on the Bocholter Aa, west of the Hohe Mark nature park. It has had city rights since 1222. The Historisches Rathaus was built in Dutch brick renaissance style. Bocholt plays an important role as a shopping town for visitors from the Gelderland Achterhoek.
