Schechingen is located north of Schwäbisch Gmünd on the Frickenhofer Höhe, a ridge that extends south of the Kocher.
The municipality borders Obergröningen to the north, Abtsgmünd to the east, Heuchlingen to the south, Göggingen to the southwest, and Eschach to the northwest.
