Burkheim Castle, also known as the New Castle or Schwendi Castle, is the ruin of a spur castle at 200 m above sea level on a steep rock southwest of the district of Burkheim am Kaiserstuhl in the municipality of Vogtsburg in the Kaiserstuhl in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
The castle was first mentioned on January 13, 1231. It was owned by the Margraves of Hachberg and in 1316 by the Lords of Üsenberg, in 1561 by Lazarus von Schwendi and the Bastian family. After destruction and reconstruction, the castle was finally destroyed between 1672 and 1676 during the Franco-Dutch War. Of the former castle complex, remains of the new building and remains of the defensive wall, which are owned by a winery, have been preserved.
