Subway Station Opera House

The subway station Opernhaus is the 29th subway station of the Nuremberg U-Bahn and was opened on September 24, 1988. It is served by lines U2 and U3 and is 753.5 m from the subway station Plärrer and 533 m from the subway station Hauptbahnhof. A double track switch follows the station towards Röthenbach. The current opera house was built in 1905 on the site of the old municipal hospital as the New City Theater. In 1930 it was renamed to Opera House and has been the Bavarian State Theater since 2003.
The station is located in the Nuremberg district of Tafelhof and extends underground in an east-west direction beneath the Frauentorgraben between Weidenkellerstraße and Richard-Wagner-Platz. Ramps lead from both platform ends to a distribution level and from there to the city ditch as well as to Weidenkellerstraße and Richard-Wagner-Platz. A third exit is located in the center of the station and spans the northern platform track and the city ditch via a bridge, leading to the Kartäusertor and Frauentorgraben. It includes one elevator from the platform to the walkway and from the walkway to the Kartäusertor.
