Friederike von Papenburg

The Friederike von Papenburg is a museum ship in the Emsland city of Papenburg in Lower Saxony and the landmark of the city. The ship is a replica of a wooden brig with split topsails, simple topgallant sails, and royal sails, along with a bowsprit, inner and outer jib booms.
The ship is part of the open-air museum of shipping in Papenburg and is located in the main canal directly in front of the Papenburg town hall. The ship types of the open-air museum were rebuilt in the 1980s based on the original plans by the training workshop of Meyer Werft and hoisted into the canals by crane. The Friederike von Papenburg is the only one of the seven replicas that is accessible and serves as a branch of the tourist information, alongside the main office in the Papenburger Zeitspeicher. Civil wedding ceremonies and official receptions take place in the ship's hold.
