The megalithic tomb of Mellen is located in the Mellen district of Lenzen on the L 13 in Prignitz in the far north of Brandenburg and carries the Sprockhoff No. 453. The structure was built between 3500 and 2800 BC as a megalithic arrangement of the Funnel Beaker Culture.
The northeast-southwest oriented giant grave's long barrow, on whose southern side all the surrounding stones are missing, is 22 meters long and eight meters wide. It is described as a "corridorless passage grave." Ewald Schuldt found similar structures in Mecklenburg, which he tentatively called "portal graves," although this clashes with the portal tombs of the British Isles, which are of entirely different construction. In contrast, roughly identical structures can be found in Drenthe in the Netherlands, where they are referred to as "Portaalgraf."
