Haus Mallinckrodt is a former manor and today's manor house on the western slope of the Ardey Mountains. It is located in a forest above the Ruhr valley in the district of Ende in the Westphalian town of Herdecke and is often referred to as Mallinckrodt Castle due to its imposing architecture.
Around 1241, the castle complex was still called "Mesekenwerke", its owners later called themselves von Mallinckrodt. It was a fief of the Counts of Volmarstein, then of the Counts of the Mark. After the extinction of the Mallinckrodt family – later name bearers come from a side line not connected with this property – Haus Mallinckrodt went to the von der Recke von Volmerstein family, a branch of the Westphalian noble von der Recke family.
