The Nettebach pumping station is a water engineering facility built in 1951 by the Emschergenossenschaft in Dortmund.
The pumping station ensures water management in the northern part of Dortmund in the 1,032-hectare catchment area of the Nettebach, near Schloss Westhusen. Due to mining-related subsidence, the stream, which was expanded between 1913 and 1932, had sunk so much in its upper stretch that an area of 150 hectares was permanently submerged. To construct the pumping station in the challenging terrain, it was founded using a 10.6-meter-high sinking box made of 530 m³ of concrete, which was lowered 10 meters into the ground.
