Wolmirstedt Castle is a medieval fortification overlooking the town of Wolmirstedt in Saxony-Anhalt.
The first documentary mention of the castle dates back to the year 1009. At that time, the castle is believed to have been an imperial castle and was leased to the Counts of Walbeck. In the 12th century, the complex belonged to the Margraves of Brandenburg. Since 1159, ministeriales can be traced. The castle, located at the confluence of the Elbe and Ohre rivers, served to secure access to the Altmark region to the north. This was particularly important during the frequent military conflicts with the Archdiocese of Magdeburg to the south. Due to a changed course of the Elbe river, the complex is no longer located near the Elbe today.
