House Romberg

The castle was originally a two-island complex with separate main and outer baileys. Today it consists of an irregular island surrounded by a wide moat. This complex used to be located within a now demolished ring wall with its own outer moat. Today's two-storey manor house was built in the first half of the 16th century in the Renaissance style. On the south side there is an octagonal stair tower with corner ashlars made of sandstone. From the early 17th century there is a single-storey extension at the south-east corner. The entire building was built of brick and today has a cement plaster. On the south side of the courtyard there is a brick gatehouse, dated 1618 by an inscription, on a quarry stone base with loopholes and a half-timbered structure on the courtyard side. Originally, it must have had a projecting half-timbered upper floor.
