Mägdesprung station is one of the oldest stations of the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen and was opened in 1887. The station was the terminus of the very first narrow-gauge railway in the Harz Mountains. In the second half of 1887 the railway was extended to Alexisbad and Harzgerode. In the current situation, the station is located on the main route of the Selketalbahn that runs from Gernrode to Alexisbad, Stiege and Hasselfelde. The station is mainly used by hikers and locals.
There are no facilities at the station. The building is in a reasonable condition, and has the same architectural style as the Harzgerode station. Right next to the station building, there is a restaurant and a parking lot. Every train stops at this station, for a short stop. Trains can also pass each other from the two directions here.
