Evangelical Church Hemmerde

The Protestant parish church is a listed church building in Hemmerde, a district of Unna in the district of Unna. The Protestant parish of Hemmerde-Lünern belongs to the church district of Unna in the Evangelical Church of Westphalia.
The building made of green sandstone is a three-bay hall building with a transept and a wide 5/8 choir. The oldest part is the transept; it dates from the second half of the 12th century. Originally, an apse adjoined it, which was proven during excavations in 1975 and 1976. In the north transept, a bricked-up round arch opening from the 12th century has been preserved. Remains of the room frame from the second half of the 12th century were uncovered in 1976. The nave at that time was replaced by today's one around 1300. The late Gothic sacrament niche from the first half of the 15th century was added in 1976. The current choir dates from 1543 according to a date on the outer wall. The flat-arched windows were installed in the nave in 1692. At the end of the 17th century, the vaults were provided with oak planks, similar to a Gothic ribbed vault. The vaults in the nave rest on strong templates. In the transept, the stone girth and shield arches are round-arched, in the nave pointed arches. The outer walls of the choir are plastered.
