The Werl Convent is a convent in the city of Werl, Germany, which was a Capuchin convent from 1645 to 1834 and has been a Franciscan monastery since 1848.
In 1645, Prince-Bishop Ferdinand of Bavaria brought the Capuchins to Werl to found their convent, which is located to the east of the market square. The Capuchins live solely on alms and donations. In 1661, Ferdinand's successor, Maximilian Henry of Bavaria, donated to them a holy statuette of the Virgin Mary as Comforter of the Afflicted, which came from the church of St. Mary of the Meadow in Soest, which had become Protestant. Pilgrims flocked and miraculous healings were noted.
