The list of canons of the Paderborn bishop's church ranges from the 8th century to 1810. Over the centuries, the composition and role of their body, the cathedral chapter, changed. Since the 13th century and increasingly in the Early Modern period, they were important secular decision-makers of the principality of Hochstift Paderborn and represented the principality during a bishopric vacancy. Accordingly, the canons constituted the most important noble estate. The actual members of the cathedral chapter were the only ecclesiastical dignitaries. This list is intended to enumerate all known canons, with or without ecclesiastical duties, arranged by entry.
