Monastic Estate Mariengarten

The Mariengarten monastery estate is a manor with a church and residential buildings southwest of Dramfeld in the municipality of Rosdorf, Lower Saxony. It was founded in the 13th century as a Cistercian convent and was secularized in 1631.
Mariengarten is located west of the Leinegrabens in the valley of the Dramme, which flows through the estate premises. Neighboring villages include Dramfeld 1.5 km northeast of the estate, Volkerode 2.5 km north, Dahlenrode 3 km southwest, and Jühnde about 5 km west-northwest. Mariengarten is situated at an elevation of about 200 m above sea level; to the east, the terrain rises to the forested Drammeberg at 282.1 m above sea level, and to the south-southwest rises the Rieschenberg at about 330 m above sea level and the Rikusberg. South of the village, on the right side of the Dramme, Pararendzina soils can be found; on the left side of the Dramme, Pelosols and some valley-side Pseudogley-Parabraunerde. The exposed rocks are various layers of shell limestone to the south and northwest of the estate, with Keuper in the southwest.
