The Pillar House was a half-timbered house built in 1623 in Hildesheim. It was destroyed along with all the other half-timbered houses around Andreasplatz during the bombing of Hildesheim on March 22, 1945. Together with the nearby Upside Down Sugar Loaf, it was one of the city's attractions and a popular postcard motif.
In the place of the destroyed Pillar House, a modern building was erected in the 1950s, corresponding in shape and volume to the Pillar House. The half-timbering was only suggested. An extension of the destroyed building, also constructed in half-timbering, was replaced by a decorative pavilion in Bauhaus style.
