The Albert Schweitzer Gymnasium moved into the first parts of the building on Struckholt in 1954. The naming, initiated by the principal Erna Stahl, took place on February 8, 1958. On October 3, 1959, Albert Schweitzer visited the school and gave a speech.
In 2010, the then 7b won the quiz show "The Best Class in Germany." In 2002, Die Ärzte recorded for one week at ASG for the CD and DVD Rock 'n' Roll Realschule. Students of ASG formed the orchestra and the backing choir under the direction of Jochen Arp.
