The Volksdorf Forest is an urban recreational forest located in the northeast of Hamburg, belonging to the district of Volksdorf.
The Volksdorf Forest covers about 92 hectares, borders the districts of Volksdorf and Meiendorf, and is almost completely surrounded by single-family housing. Its triangular shape is bordered to the west by subway line 1 with the Meiendorfer Weg subway station. The forest is crisscrossed by many paths. Its eastern part is referred to as Schießbusch according to the topographic map. The southwestern part has a stream-like outlet towards the subway bridge at Meiendorfer Weg, while the remaining, larger part is devoid of water, but is traversed by usually dry ditches. The highest point is Mellenberg, which is 63.3 meters high, the tip of a terminal moraine from the Weichsel Ice Age. It rises as a rounded hill twelve meters above the surrounding terrain.
