The Brandenburg Lower Havel is a section of the Havel River in the German state of Brandenburg. The length of the waterway is about eight kilometers. It is a federal waterway of waterway class IV with restrictions and belongs to the Lower Havel waterway, for which the water and shipping office of Brandenburg is responsible. The Brandenburg Lower Havel is completely located within the city limits of the independent city of Brandenburg an der Havel.
The Brandenburg Lower Havel, stretching from Beetzsee to Breitlingsee and measuring nearly eight kilometers in length, was part of the main route of the Lower Havel waterway, the connection between the Spree and Elbe rivers, until 1910. With the opening of the Silokanals on November 19, 1910, it became a waterway of secondary importance for freight shipping. Since the German reunification and the closure of several companies in the city of Brandenburg for economic and environmental protection reasons, there has essentially been no freight shipping on the Brandenburg Lower Havel.
