The Tower of Work is a sculpture that is erected on a square in the pedestrian zone of Salzgitter-Lebenstedt. It is also known as a city monument. The sculpture was created by Jürgen Weber between 1989 and 1995.
The sculpture is 13.73 m high, weighs 36.5 t and the foundation is 1.2 m deep. It is considered the landmark of the city of Salzgitter. The sculpture bears witness to the city's exciting past and commemorates forced labor concentration camps, flight, expulsion and dismantling, but also the reconstruction and founding of a new city and a new business location.
