The seal station Nationalpark-Haus is the only state-recognized care station for marine mammals in Niedersachsen, located in the northern district of Norddeich. Between 80 and 180 orphaned seals, as well as harbor seals, are raised here each year and, for example, returned to the North Sea at the Othello Plate on the eastern shore of Norderney.
