Forsthaus Neuhaus

Forsthaus Neuhaus is a listed estate-like facility near Saarbrücken that houses an event and training center on the theme of "forest".
“Forsthaus Neuhaus” is a nature conservation project initiated by NABU Saarland e.V., the SaarForst state enterprise, and the Saarland Ministry for the Environment. The focal point of the Forsthaus is the “Scheune Neuhaus”, where a “Center for Forest Culture” has been established. In addition to forest and eco-educational exhibitions, year-round tours and activities on various ecological aspects are offered. A key focus is on the project “Primeval Forest at the Gates of the City”, which began in 1997 and is supported by the German Federal Foundation for the Environment. On an area of approximately 1000 hectares, all forestry activities and landscape conservation measures have been refrained from since that time. Nature can spread and unfold as it pleases. Over the years, a primeval forest with new communities of animals and plants will develop in this way. The project is accompanied by rangers from the Nature Conservation Authority of Saarland, an institution under the auspices of the Saar Nature Foundation.
