The IMA Schelling Group is a German-Austrian group of companies that develops and produces machines and systems for the wood, metal and plastics industries. Its headquarters are in the city of Lübbecke and in the municipality of Schwarzach.
It was founded in 1951 in Gütersloh by Erich Klessmann. IMA was formed from the TEXTIMA company by concentrating on the production of equipment for the wood industry. The plant in Lübbecke was initially built in 1960 only as a mechanical production plant. In 1989, the cooperation with IMA Meinert began. From 1991 onwards, due to the globalisation of the markets, the company began to establish worldwide sales companies.
