Felix-Fechenbach-Gesamtschule Leopoldshöhe

The Felix-Fechenbach-Gesamtschule is an all-day school in Leopoldshöhe in the district of Lippe. It emerged from a secondary school in 1977. Its catchment area is the municipality of Leopoldshöhe and the surrounding towns of Lage, Bad Salzuflen, Bielefeld and Oerlinghausen.
In 1977, the decision of the Leopoldshöhe municipal council and the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs approved the founding and construction of the new comprehensive school. On August 22, 1977, classes began for the first time at the new comprehensive school for 269 fifth and sixth graders. The transition from Hauptschule to Gesamtschule took place in the following years. The comprehensive school was founded as the only four-class SI half-day school. All other comprehensive school projects in North Rhine-Westphalia began in eight classes and with an upper secondary school. In the following years, the comprehensive school expanded in many areas. Due to a lack of space and space, new extensions were approved. In addition, the upper secondary school was started in 1983 and began for the first time the following year. Since 1991, the school has existed as an all-day school. In 2004, the Mensa Association was founded, which takes care of the breaks.
