The Rethlager springs are the source of the Rethlager stream on the northern slope of the Teutoburg Forest and at the same time a natural monument. The karst springs are located in the area of the city of Detmold on the border with the city of Lage in the up to 20 m deep Dören Gorge, a relatively flat crossing over the Teutoburg Forest. On the eastern slope of the 217 m high Kleiner Ehberg, the springs are located at an altitude of 160 m above sea level between the Detmold district of Pivitsheide V.L. and the Lagens district of Hörste.
