Le sorgenti di Rethlage sono l'origine del torrente Rethlager sul versante nord del Teutoburger Wald e allo stesso tempo un monumento naturale. Le sorgenti carsiche si trovano nel territorio della città di Detmold, al confine con la città di Lage, nella gola di Dören profonda fino a 20 m, un passaggio relativamente pianeggiante attraverso il Teutoburger Wald. Sul versante est del Kleine Ehberg, alto 217 m, le sorgenti si trovano a un'altezza di 160 m s.l.m. tra il quartiere Pivitsheide V.L. di Detmold e il quartiere Hörste di Lage.
