Wildenberg Castle is a castle in Brunskappel in the Hochsauerland district. The noble lords of Grafschaft once resided here as bailiffs of the Grafschaft monastery.
Little is known about how it came about. Around 953, a chapel is said to have been built on this site under Brun of Cologne. After the founding of Grafschaft Abbey, the chapel and the estate located there belonged to the monastery. The castle in its present form dates back to 1295. Widukind von Grafschaft is named as the builder of the residential tower. It was also during his time that the chapel was rebuilt in Romanesque style. After his death, his widow Adelheid von Wildenberg lived there. The facility takes its name from this. For a time, a side line of the noble lords resided here. Hardly anything is known about the centuries that followed.
