Raesfeld Castle is a castle in the municipality of Raesfeld, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
In the 12th century, the castle was owned by a Van den Berg family, possibly from Montferland in the County of Guelders.
In 1259 the castle was bought by the nobleman Symon von Gemen, who after settling there allowed himself to be called Symon van Raesfelt. Until the middle of the 16th century, the Van Raesfeld family, which established family ties with numerous other noble families in Westphalia and Twente, was lord of Raesfeld Castle. Then inheritance conflicts arose within the family. In 1588, the Prince-Bishop of Münster, Bernhard von Raesfeld, himself a member of the family, chose the members of the Von Velen branch of this family in the succession issue.
