The Ellinghorst dump is a former landfill in Gladbeck-Ellinghorst. From the 1950s until the mid-1970s, it served as a municipal waste dump; after being filled, the site was largely left to its own devices. Since 2001, it has been designated as a nature reserve.
The approximately 22-hectare site lies south of Ellinghorst up to the A2 motorway, on the other side of which is the Rheinbaben dump. Both dumps are addressed in the landscape plan No. 4 of the city of Gladbeck, with the aim of preserving and further developing the near-natural habitats.
