Klaus-Steilmann-Haus

The Klaus Steilmann House is a sports boarding school and part of the Olympic training center in Westfalen, located in the Wattenscheid district of the Ruhr area city of Bochum. It is located in the west of Wattenscheid directly at the Lohrheidestadion and is considered a showcase among German sports boarding schools.

The Klaus Steilmann House was opened in 2001 as a sports boarding school with financial support and under the sponsorship of the city of Bochum, the Olympic training center Westfalen, as well as the support association of the Olympic training center Westfalen and sponsors. This included particularly the Wattenscheid textile manufacturer Klaus Steilmann, after whom the sports boarding school is named. The goal of the sports boarding school is to create a living situation tailored to the individual needs of talented young athletes, enabling them to harmonize sports, school, and leisure time.
