The Hofgarten is the central park of the German city of Düsseldorf. It is located in the city center, in the districts of Stadtmitte and Pempelfort. The total area is 27.73 hectares. The area is traversed by one of the arms of the delta of the Düssel, just before it flows into the Rhine. Numerous historic monuments and sculptures enliven the park. The oldest part was laid out in 1769, during the transition from the French garden to the English landscape style. The Düsseldorf Hofgarten is the first and oldest urban park in Germany.
