Friedrich-Ebert-Straße is an important main road in the mountainous city of Wuppertal in North Rhine-Westphalia. It forms the western connection between the Elberfeld city center and the district of Sonnborn. As Königstraße, it represented the backbone of the western expansion of Elberfeld along the Wupper, starting around 1820. Its eastern section has been freed from through traffic, becoming a bustling shopping street in the Luisenviertel; the western section is part of Federal Highways 7 and 228, leading from Wuppertal to Düsseldorf and Hilden. With over 150 listed buildings, the approximately 3.5 km long street is a significant example of the urban development of Elberfeld in the 19th century.
