The state forest Marscheider Wald, with an area of about 4 × 2.5 km, is one of the largest contiguous forest areas in the east of the city of Wuppertal near the district of Ronsdorf-Linde. It is a popular local recreation area with a mixed forest stock rich in plants and fauna, rising up to almost 310 meters and intersected by several streams, including the Marscheider Bach and the Herbringhauser Bach.
