Haus Altenburg, also known as Alteburg or formerly Haus Breberen, is a former knight's estate located in the valley of the Saeffelbach, in close proximity to the Gangelter district of Breberen, in the Heinsberg district of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The castle complex, built on the site of an early motte-and-bailey castle by the lords of Heinsberg and partly still surrounded by moats, was first documented in 1330 as "Hof ten berghe." It consists of a three-sided two-storey outer bailey from the 17th and 18th centuries, and the three-winged mansion, which can be reached via a rising brick bridge, also from the 17th and 18th centuries. All buildings are constructed of brick.
