The library of the Eberswalde University of Applied Sciences for Sustainable Development is a library building located in Eberswalde. It was designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron and completed in 1998 as one of two new buildings built by the architects on the campus of the University for Sustainable Development.
From the outside, the building appears as a simple introverted cuboid. The artist photographer Thomas Ruff designed the façade. All glass and concrete elements were mass-printed with photographs using a process similar to screen printing. The visual information of the outer skin indicates the informative content of a library, according to Pierre de Meuron, it symbolizes concentrated knowledge. He said, "Without the photos, it would be a boring city block." In 1999, the new library building received an architectural award for its successful integration into the Friedrich-Ebert-Straße area.
